Ashleigh About Town: Gettin Pretty With Polish Bar Brooklyn & The Fashion Bomb Daily

Last night I had the privilege of attending an the "Get Pretty" bloggers event hosted by THE Claire Sulmers of The Fashion Bomb Daily and Polish Bar in Brooklyn. I can't say enough great things about the event, the Polish Bar services, the group of bloggers in attendance. There was free airbrush make-up, lash extensions, brow shaping, hand massages, and LOTS of fabulous OPI, Essie, and Zoya (<--my new fav brand) nail colors. Not to mention, the service and atmosphere were so welcoming and excellent! The night was dedicated to promoting great beauty services for the young, fabulous, stylish NYC gal of today. Trendy but not pricey. Quality but not bougie....ya know it's always hard to find that balance but Polish Bar had it all right.

"Get Pretty" was also a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Brooklyn Chapter. As we know it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so Polish Bar was generous enough to provide free services to us all for donations toward breast cancer research. I met great women, great make-up artists (Rebecca Casciano & Star Blackshere), learned about a great socially focused beauty product (Kahina), met one of my favorite bloggers (Claire Sulmers), and received fabulous beauty services. Needless to say, I'm winning right now. Check out the photos...

Urban Girl Squad Event Review & Alerts

I've posted about the Urban Girl Squad before but just wanted to report how awesome the volunteer event at the New York Food & Wine Festival was. Last Saturday my friend and I volunteered and had the pleasure of covering the food demonstration segments for Rocco Dispirito and Alex Guarnaschelli. It was a great experience and one that you should never volunteer for on an empty stomach. Now, after the demonstrations, we were free to roam the festival and raid various samples of any and everything.....expect the liquor. Considering that a ticket to this event is $195, I am so grateful I had the hookup courtesy of UGS. Free admission, celebrity foodies, and free food I'd probably never try otherwise? Win! Not to mention the box lunch they provided us with as volunteers was very impressive. In short, UGS is marvelous! Here are a few other opportunities to network with the creator of UGS and other UGS chicks.
